Research in the method Cooperating Devices by Intuitive Directions

The demand of walking support technologies for visually impaired people is increasing not only for the visually impaired people but also for the increasing elderly people. There are various methods such as accompanying, guide dogs, and white canes, however, each method suffers from each problem such as convenience, resource, or safety. In this research, we develop the method that exploits drones to solve the conventional problem. There are several advantages of using drones for this purpose: they can be used casually by the will of the user himself, are mass-producible, and are capable of high-performance sensing and flexible communication. Especially, we design the system according to the actual use of visually handicapped person, and clarify the control algorithm and communication method of drones with visually impaired people.
